The collection consists of over 15,000 photographic images taken and compiled by Robert (Bobby) Scarboro during his long career as one of Gadsden’s most popular photographers. Currently, the library has digitized 4,300+ of the Scarboro images and these are available on the Gadsden Public Library’s web site. The images can be searched by a particular name of an individual, by school group, by building or by event… among many other possible searches. Popular images include those of downtown Gadsden in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, the Dwight Cotton Mill, the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Plant and Republic Steel.
